400 SUB-INSPECTOR/ LADY SUB-INSPECTOR (UNARMED) IN WEST BENGAL POLICE —2013 THROUGH WEST BENGAL POLICE RECRUITMENT BOARD. LAST DATE: 17/04/2013.

1. Sub-Inspector of Police (Unarmed): 282 Nos.
2. Lady Sub-Inspector of Police (Unarmed): 118 Nos.
N.B: Reservation of the posts for SC/ST and OBC Candidates of West Bengal is as per Govt. norms.

Educational qualification: A degree of a recognized university or its equivalent.

Age Limits: The candidates must not be less than 20 years and not more than 27 years as on 01.01.2013. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST and by 3 years for OBC candidates of West Bengal only.

Pay Scale: Rs.7100—37600

Physical Standards of the Candidates
For Male Candidates: Height-1.67 mtrs; Weight- 51.5 Kgs; Chest- 79 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.
For Hill men of Darjeeling District: Height-1.60 mtrs; Weight- 50 Kgs; Chest- 76.20 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.
For Female Candidates: Height-1.60 mtrs; Weight- 45 Kgs.
For Hill women of Darjeeling District: Height-1.55 mtrs; Weight- 45 Kgs

Candidates’ Selection process—
Eligible candidates will be called for a Preliminary Examination to be held on General Studies and Arithmetic (Multiple choice objective type questions) with full marks of 200 (150 marks in General Studies having 75 questions & 50 marks in Arithmetic having 25 questions. Duration of Written Examination will be 90 minutes.
Candidates who qualify the preliminary examination will be called for Final Examination.

The Final Examination will consist of three papers of conventional type questions on – Paper-I: General Studies and Arithmetic (2hrs duration),  Paper-II : English (1hr duration) and Paper-III: Bengali/Hindi/ Urdu/ Nepali (1hr duration)
The examination for all the above three papers will be held on the same day.

Qualified candidates from main Written Examination will be called for Personality Test of 30 marks. Finally there will be Medical Test.

How to Apply: Apply on prescribed application format. Application form and detailed Information Brochure will be available from the office of the Superintendent of Police of all districts and the office of the Commissioner of Police of all Police Commissionerates (except Kolkata) from 20/03/2013 to 16/04/2013.

Application form will be also issued to the candidates on production of Bank Draft / Postal Order of Rs. 150/- (One hundred fifty only) or Caste Certificate (for the candidates from Schedule Tribe / Scheduled Caste Community of West Bengal only)

The Application form must be enclosed with the following attested copies of documents and testimonials —

1. Demand Draft or IPO (of Rs. 150/-), for candidates other than SC/ST of West Bengal, 
2. One copy of recent Passport size photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form and two more identical extra copies of signed photographs (Sl. No. of the Application Form must be written on the back side of the photograph), 
3. Attested photocopies of admit card/certificate of Madhyamik or equivalent examination as proof of age, 
4.  Attested photocopies of certificate / marksheet of Degree (Graduation) examination, 
5. Documents in support of claim for SC/ST/OBC from competent authority, if applicable 
6. Documents in support of proof of departmental candidate with NOC.

Application Fee: Rs.150 is to be paid in form of A/C payee Demand Draft (payable at Kolkata) or IPO (payable at GPO Kolkata) in favour of 'West Bengal Police Recruitment Board’ (WBPRB).
SC/ST candidates of West Bengal are not require to pay any Application Fee.
Reserved categories of other State may apply as General candidates only and Application fee is applicable for them.

The application form along with enclosures is to be place in an envelope of size 34 cm X 26 cm. Do not fold the application form.

1. A firm handshake- A handshake says a lot about you than you can imagine. A firm handshake is a sign of confidence and leadership qualities, which organizations are always looking for in employees. But make sure you do not squeeze the hand of your interviewer, as it is a sign of insecurity, or being a control freak.
    
2. Maintain eye contact- Whenever we lie, we tend to avoid eye contact. Thus, whenever you fail to make eye contact, the subconscious of the interviewer would tell him that you are lying, even if you are not. Always maintain eye contact with the interviewer whenever answering questions. But don’t hold the eye contact for more than few seconds at a stretch, as it is considered rude. 
    
3. Maintain your wit- Sometimes, interviewers throw candidates off track by asking weird questions such as “What if dinosaurs were still alive?” They are not looking for a right answer to such questions. Rather, they are looking for ability to handle unexpected situations. Maintain your wit at all times during the interview. 
    
4. Be open- During the interview, be open in your stance, and in your mannerisms as well. Do not cross your arms or legs. If an interviewer offers you something, do not hesitate to accept it. 
    
5. Be precise with your answers- Nothing impresses an interviewer more than clarity of thought. Always try and give to the point answers. Blabbering about stuff won’t help matters. 
    
6. Dress appropriately- Professionalism is an important criteria taken into account when hiring candidates. Your dress is the first thing an interviewer notices when you walk into a room. Make sure you dress appropriately. Steer clear of a denims and tees. Instead, opt for something formal and more business-like for your interview. 
    
7. Try conversing- Don’t treat the interview as a question-answer session. Treat it as a conversation instead. If you have some doubts or questions in mind, feel more than ready to ask them during the interview. It is important to form a rapport with your interviewer, as it improves chances of getting selected. 
    
8. Be yourself- It is easier said than done, but it is important. When you are called for a jobinterview, the employer wants to meet the real you and not someone who is rehearsed by counselors etc. Try to be yourself during the interview, and if the interviewer likes you, you will get the job. 
    
9. Arrive on time- Noting pisses off an employer more than a potential job candidate arriving late for the interview. Make sure you arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time. Arriving early shows that you are really interested in the job, which improves your chances of being selected. 
    
10. Showcase your knowledge as much as you can- At the end of the day, an interviewer is gauging whether you are the right fit for the job. Whenever possible try to showcase your knowledge and skillset during the interview.
